Using contrasting garnishes to highlight different flavor profiles in the same cocktail.
Tutorial
For Lemon Twist:
- Use a channel knife or sharp peeler to cut a thin strip of lemon peel
- Ensure there's minimal white pith on the underside
- Hold the twist over the drink and express the oils as with the orange peel
- Run the peel around the rim of the glass
- Twist the peel into a spiral shape and place it on the edge of the glass or drop it in
For Olive:
- Select quality, firm cocktail olives (preferably stuffed with pimento)
- Rinse slightly if they're very briny
- Skewer 1-3 olives on a cocktail pick
- Place gently into the finished cocktail, avoiding splashing
- Slightly stir the cocktail once after adding to release some olive flavor
