Ingredients
- 1 bottle (750ml) red wine (Merlot or Cabernet Sauvignon)
- 1 orange, sliced into rounds
- ¼ cup brandy (optional)
- ¼ cup honey or sugar
- 8 whole cloves
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 2 star anise pods
- 1 tsp whole allspice berries
- Orange slices and cinnamon sticks for garnish
Instructions
- Add wine, sliced orange, brandy, and honey to a large saucepan
- Add all the spices
- Heat over medium-low heat until warm (do not boil)
- Reduce heat to low and simmer for 15-20 minutes
- Strain and serve in heatproof mugs or glasses
- Garnish with fresh orange slices and cinnamon sticks
